I started painting the first layers of color at the art group today. I was unsure how to paint him, so I used a watercolor pencil to mark different areas of color as a starting point. As the process continued, I added a point to his beak and colored rings around his eyes. I always feel trepidation when I start painting a sculpture because often, I have no idea what I’m doing. With this sculpture, I did not feel its personality until the doughnut realization and now during the painting stage. Now he’s has told me his name is Stanley.
