Adding the layers of plaster to the Lil Bird, I used a Potter sponge to smooth the plaster. While waiting for the plaster to dry, I felt the urge to place the sponge between its wings. It was a perfect fit. I was never sure why I positioned the wings the way I did; it felt right then, so I went with it. Now I know he was meant to be holding a doughnut! Clarity comes when you sit quietly with your creations and listen to their wishes.
