Owen the Turtle started as a wooden ball armature. Using CosClay, a flexible oven bake polymer clay, I added the square eyes, thinking it would be a little bug. But as I sculpted, I felt it going a different way, so I added a mouth and then a nose, and now it’s telling me it’s a turtle. The eyes and expression came next, then the obligatory fedora and cigar. I’d like to create a larger version of this sculpture as a wall hanging.
