Adding the free-form air over the EVA foam wings worked; I had to do this in two steps to avoid handling wet clay. I also attempted to add magnets as a means to mount them to the body after applying the final gloss resin. This ended up not working in the end; once the epoxy dried, the magnets pulled out of the sockets leaving my wing anchorless. It could be possible if I had a better way to attach the magnets to the armature. I’ll have to find a mechanical way to fasten the wings and cup after I paint and resin.
I learned the lesson from Stanley that painting and glazing with resin is very hard with the wings next to the body. I’m trying a “Mr. Potato Head” approach with limbs and a cup that can pop on and off the main body.
