As an artist or creator, you have good taste. The things you envision excite you, and there is a yearning to make them a reality. Our first attempts are often disappointing. We step back observing our ugly ducking. Disappointment and doubt overflow from the inside out. The inner critic spews skepticism and self-hate. Passion transforms into feelings of uncertainty.
In these moments, I encourage you to destroy your pride and ego. Mute the critic, then embrace a child’s mindset. Observe and discover wonder for the simplest things. The freedom of innocence, before you began defining right and wrong or compare yourself to others. Let your creative process become playful again.
Let go of your ideals. For every Masterpiece, there is a waste bin and floor full of mediocre attempts. Surrender your obligation to be good. Allow your creativity to flow without your ego holding you back.
